How to create new categories for the competencies?

Competency categories are used to associate groups with their respective competencies. When you create categories, such as Problem Solving, Results Analysis or Technical Competencies, you will group competencies that are related to each other.

Usually, competency categories are used to identify the competencies of managers or a specific team, thus the development category is for the technology team, while strategic thinking is for managers.

Let's do it!

Step 01

In the profile screen, go to Settings > Skill Categories.

Next, a screen will open where there will be boxes to fill in to create a new category, and also a list of previously created categories below. To create a new category, just fill in the boxes as described below:

  1. Name: Enter the name of the new category.

  2. Situation: Activate or inactivate the category.

  3. Weight: Set a weight for your category. The weight is used to influence the score in performance evaluations, as an important agent in a group of competencies. In general, the value used is 1.

  4. Description: Add a brief description of it. The description will not appear to the employee, being visible only on the setting page, usually only accessible by HR.

  5. Profile Restriction: Select this option if you want to restrict the evaluation of this competence category to one team or one group of managers. For example, if this option is deselected completely, when setting up the competencies, the competencies belonging to this category will be available for all members of the linked teams. However, if you select "profile restriction" + "manager", for example, only the managers of the linked teams will have the competencies belonging to this category available.

Now, save the competence category.
